Art's Cyclery is the leading bike shop in San Luis Obispo. Every spring Art's has a giant bike sale to clear inventory. Drafting on Art's years of success, competing bike shops scheduled their sales events on the same weekend as Art's. The challenge was to retain Art's leadership role. To start, Whizbang renamed Art's Spring Sale to Art's "Bikeapalooza." Then a full media campaign was created including TV, radio, print, and direct mail. Whizbang also created bike hangers to tag on bicycles throughout the city and conducted a guerilla campaign to draw attention to the sale. As a result, Bikeapalooza generated the buzz to secure Art's position as the favorite bike shop of San Luis Obispo and helped sell tons (literally) of bikes.
